Matière Première
The idea takes shape around an exceptional natural ingredient and its many olfactive facets - and with the one natural ingredient in high dosage the foundation of the perfume is built.
Matière Première, with the name meaning "raw material", was launched in 2019 by Master Perfumer Aurélien Guichard in Grasse, southern France. Coming from a line of seven generations of perfumers and being the son of Master Perfumer Jean Guichard who is the director of the Givaudan Perfumery School in Grasse, he followed in his family footsteps and became a perfumer at an early age.
With great respect for raw ingredients the line reveals and sublimates the best nature has to offer. Aurélien Guichard consider perfumery a way of life, where sense of observation, sensitivity to others and generosity are the qualities of the perfumer. This is where he finds inspiration - in the exchanges with people he meets.
In 2016 Aurélien Guichard with family founded an all organic, EcoCert Rose Centifolia farm in Grasse, making him the only perfumer to own and produce his own Rose Centifolia. Following a family and regional know-how, he cultivates thousands of roses on an exceptional terroir, recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
