HAIR AND SUN

Sun-bleached or S U N - B L E A C H E D

Summer and sun are not as nurturing for the hair as they are for the mind.
Add wind, saltwater, and chlorine, and you have
the recipe for dry and porous hair.

Check out our 5 simple tips on how to avoid the disaster.

1. Sun protection

UVA and UVB radiation damage hair in two ways. UVA rays break down both protein and pigment in the hair, making it fragile and bleached. UVB rays attack the surface layer of the hair, making it difficult for the hair to retain moisture, resulting in dryness and frizz.

COOLA's Scalp & Hair Mist protects both the hair lengths and the scalp. It contains Monoi oil, which provides shine and is a natural UV protection that strengthens and protects damaged hair. It can be applied to both wet and dry hair and helps prevent colored hair from fading.

2. Minimize exposure

In addition to the sun's rays, hair is also affected by heat and wind, both of which dry out and make the hair fragile.

Therefore, cover your hair as much as possible with a hat or scarf. If you have long hair, it is a good idea to keep it up close to your head, preferably in a braid or a tight bun to protect the lengths as much as possible.

3. Wash less frequently

Hair is most sensitive when it is wet, and if you also dry and style it with a blow dryer and heat tools, it will obviously cause even more damage.

Instead, try gently cleaning your hair with French Laundry from SEPTIÈME—a revolutionary waterless hair mist that gently cleanses your hair from all the remnants of a day at the beach, without the need to rinse with water.

The unique formula hydrates and nourishes both hair and scalp, helps revitalize dry hair, and supports healthy hair growth.

4. Rinse!

Sometimes, it's simply impossible to resist the urge to dive headfirst into the pool or the sea. There's nothing better! Enjoy, but rinse your hair thoroughly afterward as both chlorine and saltwater have a very drying and bleaching effect. Preferably, use a protective product (such as French Laundry, see above) before you jump in.

5. Moisturize

In the summer heat, your hair needs extra moisture and protection, so be sure to use regular treatments and moisturize the lengths daily with a leave-in conditioner or a hair oil.

Hair oil from OUAI is a multifunctional oil that smooths frizzy hair and nourishes split ends, making the hair shiny and giving it an extremely soft finish. It is filled with African galangal root and ama and Asian borage oils, which prevent hair color from fading and protect it from heat.
