HOW TO SURVIVE WINTER

It's not easy to navigate your skincare and makeup routine in the temperamental winter weather.
There are so many different temperatures to deal with—if it's not biting cold, it's wet, and then as soon as you step onto the bus, you start sweating.
Skin and lips feel as dry as parchment, yet your makeup still seems to slide off.

Here are a few tips that have helped us during the coldest months of the year.

HUDVÅRD

1. How to cleanse your skin.

It’s important to use a cleanser that doesn’t dry out your skin but instead adds moisture—preferably an oil-based option. Also, be mindful not to use water that’s too hot when rinsing off.

2. The Hydrating Serum – A Must-Have

You want to build moisture in layers, starting with a water-based hydrating serum with hyaluronic acid as the main ingredient. If you’d like, you can then add an additional serum.

3. Creams and Masks

Since we already have one (or two) serums underneath, we need to be attentive to how much additional moisture we require—but adding a cream as the final step is essential. For extra care, we sometimes opt to sleep with a creamy hydrating mask, waking up with the softest skin.

MAKE UP

1. Base – The Right Amount in the Right Place

The temperature differences between outdoors and indoors can cause your base to "lift." For the best results, opt for a lightweight foundation that doesn't contain too much water. Pair it with a long-lasting (!) concealer and apply in thin layers. If your skin tends to be on the oily side, set it with a bit of powder.

2. Läppar

När läpparna är torra blir det svårt att få färgen att sitta snyggt. Vi väljer då ett pigmenterat läppbalsam som både ger färg och vårdar. Alternativt ett lip-tint med ett läpp-balsam över. Sitter som berget.

3. Eyes

Now it's all about waterproof or water-resistant products. When it’s extremely cold or wet, we sometimes skip mascara altogether and focus on eyeliner or waterproof cream shadows instead. Be sure to work the product into the lash line carefully, and you’ll miss the mascara less.
